Flooding on Formby's Roads Hazards!
FORMBY is experiencing drainage issues
on its roads. Areas that have never had problems with standing water after heavy
rain are increasingly being affected with flooding. On 21 October 2017, Queen's
Road, outside Crispy Cod Takeaway, was flooded, along with other roads,
including the . No matter the issue behind the flooding, we had reports that
drivers where driving splashing pedestrians and also creating a wave that washed
water in to adjacent gardens. One local who wished to stay anonymous said:-
"They come zooming down and see what looks like a small puddle and do not
realise just how big it is or do not care. If your walking past at the time,
that's not good news. How many of them know that drivers who splash pedestrians
with their car can receive up to 9 penalty points and up to ₤5000 in fines? Also
you have to ask, why are we suddenly getting these areas flooding, then you ask
yourself, have you seen the drains cleaned? With lots of leaves still to fall,
its shocking that the drains have not been kept cleaned. This water a safety
issue and also it damages the land around it. I would love to know what your
readers think about this issue and how it can be addressed..." Please
