1st female Warrant Officer
in UK appointed
THE Wales and West Region RAF Air
Cadets (RAFAC) are delighted to announce the appointment of Warrant Officer
Donna Hall to the post of Regional Warrant Officer. This appointment is
significant as Donna Hall has become the 1st female to be appointed to the
position of Regional Warrant Officer in the whole of the United Kingdom. She is
taking up this post alongside 5 other RAFAC Regional Warrant Officers.
Warrant Officer WO Hall's duties in the Region cover 6 Wings, No. 1 Welsh Wing,
No. 2 Welsh Wing, No. 3 Welsh Wing, Merseyside Wing, Staffordshire Wing and West
Mercian Wing. Combined across the Region there are 157 Squadrons with a total of
6500 cadets and staff. For all these Warrant Officer Hall will be responsible
for mentoring, advising and training in matters of drill, uniform and general
deportment.
RAFAC is a UK wide cadet force with over 55,000 cadets and Cadet Forces Adult
Volunteers. Sponsored by the Royal Air Force, RAFAC has HRH the Duchess of
Cambridge as Honorary Air Commandant and Carol Vorderman as an ambassador in
Honorary Group Captain rank.
The RAF Air Cadets consists of the Air Training Corps (ATC) and along with the
RAF elements of the Combined Cadet Force (CCF), is the RAF's cadet force,
divided into 6 regions, 34 wings and more than 900 squadrons within communities
around the UK. The CCF is made up of cadets from all 3 services, coming together
in approximately 200 independent and state schools across the country.
RAF Air Cadets aims to:-
► Promote and encourage a practical interest in aviation and the RAF among young
people.
► Provide training which will be useful in the
Services and civilian life.
► Encourage the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good
citizenship.
