PLEASE Sign up and spread the word and help make this our biggest and best yet! Queenscourt Hospice goes the extra mile for our patients every day…, will YOU go the extra mile and sign up for StarTrekk 2018?

The walk is once again supported by Southport Pleasureland, which will be the start and finish of the even, takes place on Friday, 18 May 2018. This year Trekkers will set off on an exciting new route which travels around an 8.5 mile hike around Southport raising money for Queenscourt Hospice. Now in its twelfth year, Star Trekk is the flagship event in Queenscourt's fundraising calendar and has raised over ₤700k to date. This starlit stroll around the streets of Southport really is a fabulous night with a fantastic atmosphere and this year it's going to be better than ever!

Everyone is welcome men, women and children; some people use the walk as an opportunity to remember their loved ones with the route taking you past Queenscourt Hospice where the lights of love will be shinning out. Other people get involved to simply have a memorable night out and do their bit for charity.

Why not take advantage of our early bird rate? All participants who sign up before 16 March 2018, will pay just ₤12, after which the rate is ₤15 per person.

Walk for Autism Teddy to tour Merseyrail

AUTISM the Autism Initiatives Group mascot will be taking to Merseyrail, on Wednesday, 14 March 2018, for a special teddy tour of Merseyside promoting:- 'Walk for Autism.'

'Walk for Autism 2018' is being organised by Autism Initiatives Group, a national charity which was founded in Merseyside. The project is encouraging people to walk 10,000 steps a day for 8 days, during:- 'World Autism Awareness Week' and raise funds for people with autism. It is hoped that people in Liverpool, an autism friendly Town, will really get behind the project and take it to heart. 

'World Autism Awareness Week'  runs from 26 March to 2 April 2018.

It's thought that over 1 in 100 people have some form of autism, which is a neurological condition and can mean a difference in the way a person thinks, perceives and therefore understands the world and others. This may result in difficulties or differences in communication, social interaction, thinking and in sensitivity of the senses.

So if you're travelling by Merseyrail, on the 14 March 2018, see if you can spot Austin as he embarks on his special teddy tour highlighting:- 'Walk for Autism.' He's always up for selfies, so please do come up to him and his friendly helpers for a chat on the day.
