LIMF 2018 – Amazing Music and Amazing Weather!
Photographs by Patrick Trollope.

AFTER a decade of success following Liverpool being titled European Capital of Culture 2008 and just under that time since the last Mathew Street Festival, LIMF (Liverpool International Music Festival) has developed into an inherently different music festival representing the next chapter of a global music City. LIMF this year formed part of the Liverpool 2018 programme and was supported by the City Region Combined Authority, with ₤5 million from the Single Investment Fund. But unlike previous years, to enable it to continue and keep its pioneering approach to its ever evolving music culture, this year's event was a ticketed event for the very 1st time ever. However, this did not put off thousands of people from attending over the 21 July to 22 July 2018, in part of Liverpool's magnificent Sefton Park. In fact it made the event feel more inclusive and meant organisers could still deliver an unforgettable music event. This was partly helped by the record breaking temperatures and the amazing weather, that blessed most of the 18 hours of live music, delivered by over 70 acts performed on 4 stages. Unlike previous years, 2 of the main stages were covered. The main stage was in its normal place, but all the other stages, apart from that within the Palm House, were located on the main field, again contrary to previous practice when the event was spread out though the park. This made it easy to visit each stage and, strangely, sound blending was not a major issue. Headliners included:- Haçienda Classiçal, Basement Jaxx (DJ set), Wiley, Example & DJ Wire, Jax Jones, Stefflon Don, Aurora, Young Fathers, Rae Morris, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Trevor Nelson, Gilles Peterson and Jazzie B as well as Riton, Tough Love, Toddla T and more in The Shubz DJ Tent. Performers will include:- Jordan Rakei, The Vryll Society, Trudy And The Romance, Zuzu, Jalen N'Gonda, Haarm, Queen Zee, Sub Blue, Astles, Spinn, TV ME, Pale Rider, Neil Noa, Ray BLK and many more… Do you agree that LIMF helps to shines a spotlight on our region's musical heritage and that it is a fantastic attraction for both locals and tourists alike? Did you go? Do you think it was value for money? Please let us know your thoughts and views via emailing us to:- News24@SouthportReporter.Com.
