North West Attraction Ups Investment and Expands for 2019

THOUSANDS of man hours, a 20% uplift in investment and an expanded footprint to accommodate new rides and attractions will see a bigger and better theme park open its doors from 6 April 2019. North West attraction, Southport Pleasureland, has expanded its sea front area, creating a new rides zone and created a new food and drink outlet at the heart of the park.  6 new rides will be in place for the park's Easter time opening including:- a spinning coaster, reverse bungee, big pirate ship and a new big wheel. The park's owner, Norman Wallis, has also reduced the ride prices for 2019 making the family entertainment budget go even further at Pleasureland.

Mr Wallis commented:- "We took the decision to spend more on the park and reduce ride costs. The plan is to make the park even more accessible as well as more attractive bringing more visitors from further afield to the Town. We've concluded our recruitment drive to make sure we have boosted staff numbers as the season opens, creating new jobs, all of it will help provide a lift for the local economy."

Additional investment and pricing changes come as the park management listened to customers and put changes in place to better meet their needs. The Pleasureland train will mirror the park's opening hours. The park remains free to enter and will open from 11am, through to 6pm, weather permitting, see website for more information.

Spring Clean on Lord Street's Memorial Gardens

VOLUNTEERS have been out and about, working hard to get the Town Centre looking good for Easter, collecting lots of waste.  This year, the group told us that it has been unbelievable, what they had found in the water features along the historic main road.  This entrapped group of voluntary gardeners have been out, in rain, snow and sun, trying to keep the Gardens looking good for visitors to the town, as well as for the local community. "Sadly, we have seen a massive increase in litter and dog waste that we have had to clean up over the last few months. The litter could be down to the storms, but we have also seen lots of broken bottles as well as discarded alcohol cans. It only takes a few seconds to bin your litter, but sadly some people seem not to care.  this then results in us having to clean up the mess.  The Council local street cleaners and litter pickers do a fantastic job, but even with them working hard, volunteers like us still have lots to do. Also we have seen an increasing number of people letting dogs poo on the grass and in the planted area. Again, this like the litter is not good for Tourism and also locals alike. So if you can help us collect litter, and/or help with planting and gardening, we would be very happy to hear from you. We are always looking for help.  If you spot our volunteers out and about and want to help us, please let us know and we will give you more information on how you can get involved." a member of the group told us.  We are also informed that they are always on the lookout for large donations of garden plants, so if you can help them with this, please let us know and we will pass your information on to them, or alternatively let them know if you see them working on Lord Street.
