Massive crane used to install new substation equipment in Formby

ON Sunday, 2 December 2018, those visiting Formby Station found that a large part of the East Side Car Park (Liverpool Bound) had been closed to allow, Rhuddlan based, Bob Francis Crane Hire Ltd's massive mobile unit to remove and help install Substation items including a large transformer. The massive new equipment was brought in on a heavy haulage unit and the old gear was then removed on it. The drivers of the crane and also the heavy haulage truck did an amazing job getting in and out of the car park, due to its tight turn and having to go through a low bridge. Despite the Santa Dash taking part in Liverpool, the loss of the car park space was not as big an issue to travellers. Even the rain and cold did not slow down the installation that had been finished by mid-afternoon. These are a few photos from the installation.
