Formby Village Nativity Musical 2018
Photographs by Patrick Trollope.

THE Formby Nativity Play, or we should say Musical, is a much loved event in the local calendar. The free event is hosted each year by Churches Together in Formby Altcar and Hightown, or for short, CTIFAH. This year’s event, unlike in previous years, was split into 2 shows. This was to help accommodate all those who wanted to take part. The event was held on 8 December 2018, outside the Formby Pool.

Despite the poor weather, the event was extremely well attended. This year’s play was more traditional than it has been over the last few years, and was written and directed by Dympna Edwards, with sound by Andy Johnson.

1st to perform this new dramatisation were Redgate School Choir, led by Helen Gambon, along with Freshfield School Choir, led by Katie Smith and Woodlands Junior School Choir, led by Bea Rimmer. They were also joined by the G-Force Choir, led by Steve Cook.

2nd to perform were St Jerome's School Choir, led by Catherine Last, along with St Luke's School Choir, led by Jenny Harper and Our Lady's School Choir, led by Karina Beesley. Joining them were Live to Learn Drama Group, led by Amanda Doyle, plus both the Make Noise and Make Noise 2 Choirs, lead by Catherine Last.

The live acting was done by a cast of 28 local people:- Denise Clarke, Luke Foster, Niamh Norbury, Anna Ferguson, Mike Crilly, Angela Grue, Helen Barton, Carol Ginn, Dyan Ensenat, Val Skinner, John Turner, Ken Ward, Tim Hogben, Mark Mullen, Mark Molloy, Catie Page, Martin Edwards, Caroline Jones, Sandra Holan, Mark Hogben, Pete Connor, Kevin Crean, Chris Page, Stuart Jones, Sharon Crean, Terry Simmons, Thomas Jordan, Steve Ginn, Imogin Robinson.

CTFAH said:- "We would like to thank all those who braved the elements to come and watch. Also, a big Thank You goes to Formby Parish Council, Waitrose and the staff and volunteers at the Formby Pool, who all generously supported the nativity this year. We must also issue special thanks to all the children, from the local school, choirs, actors, stewards and every one behind the scenes, including St John Ambulance, who have made the event possible. We wish all of you a Happy Christmas and a Fantastic New Year."
