REAL
community spirit
was shown in Ainsdale as the 2003 Ainsdale Flower Show took place
last weekend (5 July). Despite the cloud and the fear of rain
the event, organised by the Ainsdale Horticultural Society, proved to be a massive hit with the showground packed full of games
and activities, as well as three marquee's. The fun also spread-out
to the village, as the annual parade went through its hart and the
Railway Pub and the butchers shop opposite the showground had
stalls manned through out the day. The pub even had dancers
and a lad in stocks, on its grounds. 10 year old Naomi
was crowned this years Quean of the show by TV entertainer Connie
Creighton. Also present were the Mayor and Mayoress of
Sefton presenting this years children's exhibitors
prizes. The fun also included a very special show by
Southport's very own clown called Vercoe, aka. Arthur Pedler.
