Time to Talk about Wellbeing at Work Conference 2019

LANCASHIRE Care NHS Foundation Trust is joining forces with Lancashire Mind and wider partners to deliver the annual Workplace Wellbeing Conference in Lancashire. The Trust is working in partnership with Lancashire Mind to support local employers to improve the health, wellbeing and performance of their workforce. The 'Time to Talk about Wellbeing at Work' event is now in its 2nd year and will bring together employers from across the county to share best practice, and raise the profile and benefits of workplace wellbeing. The event will focus on simple and practical steps employers can take no matter their size or resource and include a range of activities including employer talks, interactive workshops, a wellbeing marketplace and lots more. The Trust alongside other employers, will be sharing their experiences of achieving wellbeing at work by delivering:- 'Making Conversations Count' talk, to offer learning for other organisations to translate into their own workplace. The Trust will also be holding a stall showcasing a variety of health and wellbeing services within the marketplace.

Joanne Smith, Health and Wellbeing lead at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust said:- "We are extremely pleased to support and attend the second Workplace Wellbeing Conference for Lancashire. We look forward to be working alongside Lancashire Mind to be celebrating and showcasing our own commitment to workplace health and wellbeing and engaging with other businesses and organisations across Lancashire. We will also be running a Making Conversations Count workshop and our teams will be in the market place providing lots of useful information about our services!"

Tommy McIlravey, CEO of Lancashire Mind:- "Workplaces are beginning to realise the competitive edge that looking after staff wellbeing gives them. It is not just about reducing days off sick. While that's clearly important, good mental health helps employees have the confidence to share ideas, become better team mates and more productive in the workplace."

The event will be held, on 7 February 2019, at The Preston Marriott, for more information or delegate registration can be found online now.

Latest NHS winter figures show staff 'pushed to the limit' says NHS Confederation

IN response to NHS England's latest winter situation report, Niall Dickson, chief executive of the NHS Confederation, said:- "These figures are welcome, but they don't tell the whole story. The fact we are doing better now is the result of meticulous planning and staff going the extra mile, but the reality is still that at the front line, staff are being pushed to the limit. That's what it means to be working at the front line at the moment and it has been for several years. Patients will be reassured the NHS is holding its own despite the inevitable pressures from plummeting temperatures. However, the NHS is struggling with ambulances being delayed, A&E departments having to divert patients to other Hospitals, and bed occupancy at unsafe levels. We are seeing regional variations across the system, with Hospitals in the Midlands under the most strain from winter pressures. The hard work and detailed winter planning from NHS staff is paying off but we must remember that worse weather or major outbreaks of flu and Norovirus could strike at any moment. All of this points to the need to find a more sustainable way of providing care to a growing and ageing population. The new NHS Long Term Plan, with its emphasis on joined up community care, is a major step forward and will help improve patient care and relieve pressure on staff at the frontline."
