THE 18th Edition of the Williams BMW Liverpool International Tennis Tournament 2019 ran over 19 June to 23 June 2019, at Liverpool Cricket Club. The Tournament is now the longest running and largest tennis exhibition in Europe, running since 2002. The event is a fantastic opportunity to introduce up and coming and established WTA and ATP players as they prepare for Wimbledon. For the most part, the weather was amazing, but on the last day, rain threatened play and during the last match the rain started to fall, but the players kept going, much to the satisfaction of the audience. Only a official dived in for cover, much to the amusement of the players and audience. We are pleased to announce that Paulo Lorenzi (ITA) and Kaia Kanepi (EST) are this year's crowned Champions of Liverpool after beating Robert Kendrick (USA) and Corinna Dentoni (ITA) Also locally both Matt Blackburn and Maisie Lavelle from Aughton Tennis Club have taken the Chevasse Cup, beating the Liverpool's Paul Tote and Charlotte Bresweth, as the rain fell on the Sunday evening. We had been looking at doing a large written report, but we will let the photos tell you the story. We look forward to the event's return in 2020.
