"THE Southport ½ Marathon and Southport 10k took place again on 30 June 2019. These types of events are normally very welcome, but sadly, due to bad communications, it lead to major issues for residents, church goers, and hotel guests along with deliveries stranded, as hundreds of runners ran through and around the Town Centre. To add to the problems, it was also Armed Forces Day and it delayed the set up of the events taking place on Lord Street. Please can Sefton alert businesses and also residents about in advance and also put in place ways for them to get in and out of the affected areas, without conflicting information being given to them. We are told that the event will again take place on 28 June 2020. Will Sefton and Epic Events please communicate with all affected roads, so drivers are not left stranded!" Local business owner.
