The 99th Ainsdale Show
Photographs by Patrick Trollope.

DID you know the Annual Ainsdale Show is in fact older than the Southport Flower Show? Well this year marked the Ainsdale Show's 99th year, over 5 July to 7 July 2019. Plus, it would have been even a bigger number if it was not for the fact that over the 2nd World War the show was suspended. You can read the Show's amazing history on the Ainsdale Horticultural Society's website. But more on that next year as they mark their 100th Show!

This year the Annual Ainsdale Show started with a Pet Show on Friday, 5 July 2019, that had 4 classes:- Dogs, Cats, Rabbits, Hamsters, and Guinea Pigs and any other small animals, also insects. But the main event was the following day.

Rain threatened to put a dampener on the start of the event, on Saturday, 6 July 2019, but as the Parade set off, from Station Road to the Village Green, the weather started to get better. By the time it arrived at the showground, the sky was showing signs were starting to brightening up. After the Parade terminated in the event arena, the crowning took place of this years Floral Queen, Rosebud Ella, who was awarded the title by TV and Radio personality David Lonsdale, along with this years Rosebud, Ella and their attendants Eva, Millie, Mika and Emma. By midday the weather was amazing and for those who came in the morning, the change in the weather made all the difference.

This year's event was packed full of interesting things to do and see, from a large Craft Marquee, to live performances in the arena, with dog displays to gymnastics and martial arts demonstrations. Plus no horticultural show would be without floral displays and a Floral Marquee.

Despite issues with people getting to the event, due to the massive sink-hole further down the road, which made driving into via the diversions a massive headache, the sun tempted people out and the event was very well attended. All but 1 of the acts got in on time.

The successful event finished with a Car Boot Sale on Sunday, 7 July 2019. We will let the photos and video tell you the rest of the story...   For more information about the historic show and also the Ainsdale Horticultural Society, please visit:- AinsdaleHorticulturalSociety.Org.UK.  Also please do tell us what you thought of the event via emailing us to:- News24@SouthportReporter.Com.
