Formby Festival 2019

THE Formby Festival was held from Friday, 19 July to Sunday, 21 July 2019, on Duke Street Park.  The event is based on the old Formby Show, that ran from the early 1970's until 2001, on the Park.  It's replacement, the Formby Festival started in 2013 and is now a much loved event for the Village.  The activities started on Friday night, with a host of live music acts, that included the Queen Tribute act, Fash, ending with the showing of the film Grease. Sadly, the weather was not amazing and as a result, the night was slow to build up.

Equally Saturday was also slow to build up, due to the weather, but that did not stop Miss Liverpool City Region 2019, Finley Unsworth, who came to judge the children's cakes and crafts.

Also even though it was her 21st Birthday, Finley also took time to take part in a live cookery demonstration, with Master Chef, James Holden. You can watch he cooking on our YouTube Channel at at the end of the photo pages within this weeks edition.  But is was not just the adults cooking at the event, as the show also had a Children's Cookery Tent, thanks to Waitrose.

Other highlights from the show included Fireworks on Saturday as well as a performance by Twist and Pulse, from Brittan's Got Talent.

Viva Brasilia brought a bit of Samba to the proceedings and also H&M Dog Display Team putting on shows in the arena, along with displays from Unite Marshal Arts, belly dancers, gymnastic displays, magic shows and more... Plus, live music from:- Skylights Band, Astrid, Denio Band, The Ambition and Gallia Music, to name just a few...

Not only all that, but the show also featured a climbing wall, for the brave, along with, for the 1st time, a massive Zip Wire!

And that's not forgetting the  shooting range, Merseyside Fire Museum Stand along with many other attractions...

Their was so many things taking place, we sadly could not get to see them all, but these are a few photos we did get the take at the event... If you attended this event, we would love to know your thoughts on it... Please email us your thoughts and view about the show to:- News24@SouthportReporter.Com.
