Insurance team smash fundraising target in Peak District challenge for NSPCC

Picture shows:- Mike Jones (NSPCC Team Leader), Simon Keenan (Partner), Nick Farrelly (Associate Director), Tess O' Callaghan (NSPCC Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager).

AN 8 strong team of insurance brokers from Griffiths and Armour exceeded their fundraising target to support the NSPCC during a walking challenge. The team from the firm's Liverpool HQ had set out to raise ₤3,160 to help the charity support children and young people around the UK, but by the time they were back at work on Monday, the total amount raised had passed the ₤3,900 mark; with funds still coming in. Simon Keenan is 1 of the partners in G&A and took part in the walk along with colleagues Nick Farrelly, Peter Maher, Gina Charles, Jack Yetman, Jacob Howarth, Thomas Rigby and Toby Spence. Simon said the 54km route saw the team climb 1,400m and was a tough but worthy challenge. He said:- "We have a special place in our hearts for the NSPCC, and wanted to do something challenging to support the excellent work their counsellors and volunteers carry out every day. The discomfort we experienced during the steep climbs and descents throughout the Peak District in the heat were nothing compared to what some of the most vulnerable children and young people in the UK are experiencing every day, both physically and emotionally. If the money we raised from our walk can help make life better for them, then it's all been worthwhile."

The funds were presented to members of the NSPCC team at the Hargreaves Centre in Liverpool earlier this month. Tess O' Callaghan, senior corporate partnerships manager for the NSPCC, said:- "We' d like to thank everyone from Griffiths and Armour for their amazing donation to the NSPCC.  I know everyone at the Hargreaves Centre in Liverpool is hugely grateful for the G&A team's superb efforts, our staff and volunteers will be able to continue their vital work in ensuring children and young people around the UK will be able to access the advice, support and counselling they desperately need."

LJLA' s International Arrivals corridors and baggage reclaim area showcasing the best of the Region.

LIVERPOOL Lennon Airport (LJLA) has just completed a project to create a warm welcome and lasting impression of the Airport, the City Region and the North West, for both visiting passengers and those returning home.  The project has been delivered in partnership with the Region's destination marketing organisations, having recognised that LJLA is used more and more as a Gateway Airport, not just for passengers travelling to the Liverpool City Region, but also for the surrounding Regions of:- Cheshire, Lancashire, Cumbria and Manchester.

Katie Elliott, LJLA's head of Marketing commented:- "We are delighted to have been able to work in collaboration with the North West of England Tourism Partners to create a sense of place for international passengers arriving into Liverpool for the 1st time, whilst at the same time evoking a sense of pride amongst those passengers returning home to their City. This has been achieved using Inspirational imagery for a multitude of genres which best represent:- Liverpool, the City Region, Lancashire, Cheshire, Cumbria and Greater Manchester."

Walls along the Airport's international arrivals walkways and inside the baggage reclaim area have been dressed to display imagery that celebrates the diverse array of attractions both for visitors and returning passengers. These showcase a mix of:- arts, science, history, sports, music, food and fashion from across the City Region and the North West and all accessible via Liverpool, the Region's faster, easier, friendlier Airport.

The Airport has worked closely with a host of tourism partners on the project, including Marketing Liverpool, Marketing Cheshire, Marketing Lancashire, Cumbria Tourism and Marketing Manchester and is seen as the 1st Phase of a larger project to enhance the arrivals experience for passengers and create a great welcome to both the Airport and to the Regions it serves.

Chris Brown, Director of Marketing Liverpool added:- "The new arrivals branding instantly gives a sense of place when passengers touch down at Liverpool John Lennon Airport. Liverpool City Region and its surrounding areas are blessed with an immensely broad visitor offer, and we've tried to give a flavour of that; from famous landmarks to natural landscapes and some of the events that return to the City Region each year. We' re proud of the results, but most importantly the early feedback from passengers shows that they like this welcome to Liverpool."
