Formby lady's football wish comes true

A wish has come true for Nora Moscrop, a resident, at New Care's Formby Manor Care Centre, on Liverpool Road, in Formby, who was treated to a VIP experience at Goodison Park. A life long fan of the Toffees, 86 year old Nora had wanted to return to the stadium to watch a match for many years as it was her favourite pastime with her late husband and children. Heather Claydon, Housekeeping Assistant at Formby Manor, made contact with Goodison Park and organised the visit as a surprise treat for Nora. On arrival at Goodison Park, Nora met with several Everton ambassadors, including former football player and manager Graeme Sharp and retired footballer Ian Snodin, and was treated to a pitch side photoshoot. Throughout the game, Nora joined in with the singing and cheered when Everton scored twice, thoroughly enjoying the day.

Nora says:- "I used to go to Everton games with my husband and children and really miss those days. I happened to mention this in passing to member of the team at Formby Manor and the next thing I know, I'm heading to Goodison Park once again for a VIP experience! It was a fantastic day and I loved every minute. It was great to meet Graeme Sharp and Ian Snodin and it was lovely to be back in the stand with the Everton supporters cheering on my team. I must be a lucky charm as we beat West Ham 2-0. I am so grateful to New Care for making my wish come true."

Emma Birchall, well-being coordinator at Formby Manor Care Centre, who attended the VIP experience with Nora, adds:- "Nora has lived at Formby Manor since we opened in the summer and she often speaks of Everton and how much she enjoyed watching matches with her late husband.  Having not been to Goodison Park for a while, it really was a privilege and honour to make this wish come true and share this special day with Nora. We pride ourselves in providing person-centred well being care and always go above and beyond to ensure each resident is happy. Not only did this trip bring back wonderful memories from Nora's past, but it also allowed Nora the opportunity to enjoy 1of her hobbies, which is so important for our residents."
