2019 - A Review Of The Year

THIS is a look back over 2019, with some of the highlights of the year and the lows. 2019 was a interesting year, with so many twists and turns that kept us all on our toes. We don't know what 2020 has in store for us, but if 2019 has taught us anything, it is to expect contention and a bewildering amount of conflicting issues. If 2019 was a plot from a book, no-one would have believed it. Please tell us what you thing were the most significant moments of 2019 for the Liverpool City Region...

January at the St Helens Theatre Royal

ST Helens Theatre Royal starts 2020 with a month full of fun, live music, dance and laughter for all the family. January kicks off with our 5 star rated:- 'FAB-U-LOUS' festive family panto, 'Aladdin,' starring Strictly Come Dancing's Robin Windsor in the title role. The show has been wowing audiences daily with its mad cap fun, laughter, songs and fantastic choreography. It runs until Sunday, 12 January 2020, so there's still time to cheer on:- 'Aladdin' and his pals as they try to foil the villainous Abanazer's plot to rule the world with a very special lamp.

The 'Aladdin'  cast got a surprise visit from current:- 'Strictly Come Dancing' Champion Kelvin Fletcher, who brought his family to see the show this week. Kelvin was announced as the original star of 'Aladdin' before taking part in 'Strictly.' Professional Strictly Dancer Robin Windsor then stepped into the part. During the show Kelvin took to the stage with children selected from the audience to do The Floss and gave a "Strictly" memorable performance.

On Friday, 17 January 2020, the UK Pink Floyd Experience authentically recreates the atmosphere of a live Pink Floyd live performance with video projections, light shows and more than 50 years of legendary hits from the iconic albums:- 'Dark Side Of The Moon' and 'Animals', plus 'Wish You Were Here,' 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond,' 'Another Brick In The Wall' and 'Comfortably Numb.' This spellbinding show is a true celebration of all things Floyd, for fans of all ages.

In January, the:- 'Strictly Come Dancing' legend Kristina Rihanoff presents the sumptuously glamorous:- 'Dance To The Musi,' on Tuesda,y 21 January 2020, a show celebrating the evolution of dance through the decades, from Charleston and Tap dance, modern Ballroom, Latin, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Salsa, Disco, Breakdancing, Street, Hip Hop, Contemporary Ballet, Salsa to the spectacular Argentine Tango, with plenty of humour and fun facts of showbiz life.

Created, Directed, Choreographed by and starring:- Kristina Rihanoff, the show is hosted by X Factor heartthrob Jake Quickenden and also features:- 'South African Dancing With The Stars' professionals:- Marcella Solimeo and Dylon Daniels.

We round out the month with a spectacular concert by:- "the greatest Rock and Roll band in the world" 'Showaddywaddy,' on Friday, 31 January 2020. Over 4 decades the band has sold more than 20 million records and toured all corners of the world. The show includes their dynamic and uplifting hits:- 'Under The Moon of Love,' '3 Steps to Heaven,' 'Hey Rock and Roll,' 'When, Blue Moon,' 'Pretty Little Angel Eyes' and many more.

Chantelle Nolan, Theatre Manager said:- "We're kicking off the new year with a spectacular month of outstanding entertainment to appeal to all ages in January 2020. We've got the stars of Strictly in our FAB-U-LOUS family Panto, Aladdin and the spectacular Dance To The Music. While music lovers can choose from decades of hit music with the UK Pink Floyd Experience and Showaddywaddy. And this is just the start of what will be an amazing year of entertainment, at St Helens Theatre Royal."
