Local company is crowned:- '5 star employer'

Southport and Formby has been declared a:- '5 star'
employer, showing that care is a worthwhile career path to take. The
home care company's employees have commended the company due to
factors such as top quality training opportunities and supportive
leadership.
All employees of the home care company were invited to take part in
an anonymous survey by independent employee engagement experts
WorkBuzz. Home Instead Southport and Formby is delighted to have
received an impressive employee engagement score of 94%, a rating
that few companies achieve.
Areas that employees were asked about included the career
development on offer, the relationship with their managers and their
day to day responsibilities.
The owners of Home Instead Southport and Formby, Anthea Pilkington
and Irene Hough are calling for more people to come onboard and join
the team who have praised the company for being a supportive
employer. There are 20 caregiver vacancies on offer for people who
want to begin or further a career in care. In addition they have
vacancies for full time care co-ordinators who want to start their
career journey working in the office support team. These positions
offer career advancement to assistant care manager positions within
12 months for those looking to climb the ladder.

Flat fire results in fatality
MERSEYSIDE Fire and
Rescue Service (MFRS) attended a flat fire on Hicks Road, Waterloo,
on Wednesday, 8 December 2021. Sadly, we can confirm that the
incident has resulted in the death of a man. Fire crews were alerted
at 7.29pm and on scene at 7.32pm. 3 fire engines attended. On
arrival crews found smoke issuing from a flat on the 2nd floor of
the building. Crews quickly gained entry and firefighters wearing
breathing apparatus entered to fight the fire and search the flat
for occupants. The fire was extinguished by 8.05pm. During their
search, firefighters discovered the body of a man at the property.
1st aid was carried out by firefighters and paramedics but sadly the
man was pronounced dead at the scene. A full search of the property;
a house converted into 8 separate flats over 4 floors; was carried
out by crews. No 1 was else was injured as a result of the fire and
fire crews left the scene at 11.26pm. The deceased's next of kin
have been informed by Police and a joint investigation into the
cause of the fire is now taking place between both Merseyside Fire
and Rescue Service and Merseyside Police.
