Did you hear a loud bang?

ON 15 February 2022, at around 11am, a loud bang was heard, leading to numerous reports coming in from the Merseyside, and Lancashire coastline, as well as in Manchester Interestingly, the British Geological Survey also reported it in a Tweet....

The boom was a sonic boom, from an aircraft off Southport beach. BAE Systems said the aircraft was a BAE Typhoon that is registered as Apollo 11, which had taken off from RAF Coningsby, in Lincolnshire. It was on a flight testing mission and was operating within an offshore range area, but unusually the sound of the shock wave had travelled to shore due to:- 'climatic conditions.' It is also thought another boom that had been heard might also be connected to the flight testing over the Irish Sea. The aerospace firm, in a press statement said that both they and the RAF apologise for any alarm caused as they carried out vital testing this 4.5 generation fighter jet.
