Should we have Cycle Lanes in Formby?

WE are hearing calls for cycle lanes in Formby Village, but a high proportion of those living in the area are elderly, so does this make sense? Do you think improving the bus network is a better option or adding electric charging points in the area's car parks a better option to reducing the areas emissions? Already, up the road in Southport, new cycle lanes have been coursing more problems than they are solving, and dividing residents. Yet, Sefton is planning to introduce more cycle lanes in Southport, with the idea that it will encourage more people to get out of cars. Currently Formby has Formby, around 86 cycle routes to explore, but, unlike Southport, they're currently not on the roads. We would love to hear your ideas on making the area's transportation more environmentally friendly. Email us your views to:- News24@SouthportReporter.Com.

The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA) is planning a 600km network of protected routes that will connect the Region for people who are walking or cycling. As part of this, there is an opportunity to rethink what information is provided to help people find and navigate the network. Share your views to shape the design of a new system of signs and other information intended to help anyone to get around more easily. You can have a say in what happens by going to the LCRCA's Commonplace website.

Oddly, back in 1938, when the Formby Bypass opened, it was considered such a technological innovation, and they had incorporated cyclists, with purpose-built, wide, dedicated cycle lanes, which still exist today!
