Sefton Girlguids light a Platinum Jubilee Beacon on Crosby Beach

AS part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, celebrating 70th year on the throne, as Her Majesty The Queen is Girlguiding's Patron, they mark this historic anniversary they joined other groups and along with cities, throughout the UK and the Commonwealth by taking to part in a special beacon lighting ceremony. The event was filmed, on Thursday, 2 June 2022, at 9.50pm BST, on Crosby Beach, near Anthony Gormley's Another Place iron men statues.

Did you know? Girlguiding is the UK's largest girl only youth organization, offering events, adventures, and regular meetings to empower girls to be their best and become confident women. The Queen has had a long standing personal history with this charitable organization, since She joined them in 1937, aged 11, alongside Her sister, Princess Margaret. Later in 1952, following The Queen's Coronation, she  became the movement's Patron. Ever since She took the throne, She has shown huge interest and support for the opportunities Girlguiding gives to so many young people.


Don't miss the Hightown Pub Platinum Jubilee Family Day

ON Saturday, 3 June 2022, the Hightown Pub will be hosting a fantastic Family Fun Day, that will run in conjunction with other events that are also taking part within the Village. The event will have live music and entertainment, train rides and also a Jubilee Quiz with prizes. The event starts as noon and runs until 6pm.


New Liverpool International Tournament Ambassadors!

TICKETS are selling fast for the 20th Anniversary of the Liverpool International and they have just announced that the Liverpool Football Club legends, Phil Thompson and Alan Kennedy have now officially become ambassadors for the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament. Having supported the tournament for many years we are delighted to have the continuing support of these 2 sporting legends. Phil and Alan will be attending the tournament at Liverpool Cricket Club and will also be helping out at our mini tennis exhibitions which will be happening on Castle Street, Liverpool, over 4 June and 10 June 2022, make sure you come down and say hi if you are about. As for the main event, Dimitar Kuzmanov (Bulgeria) has been announced as joining the International's line up! Dimitar is Bulgaria's no 2 ranked tennis player and has been having a great season on the ATP tour. Dimitar has trained in USA, Spain and Belgium and says his favourite shot is forehand and surface is clay (but he is looking forward to getting some grass court action with us!). On tour New York City is his favourite place to visit and his tennis idol growing up was Rafael Nadal (we love Rafael too). We advise you buy quickly if you want to attended this years event!
