Sefton firm puts Shadow Minister in the picture over local and national success

LABOUR MP and Shadow Minister Bill Esterson praised a small business that is investing in high quality equipment and staff and boosting the local economy in the borough of Sefton. Mr Esterson, Shadow Minister for Business and Industry, has spent the summer visiting firms around the country and dropped into Westcoast Workwear on Tulketh Street, Southport, to learn more about the business which supplies branded workwear, sportswear and uniforms. Mr Esterson said that Westcoast, which is run by his constituent Tom Mills, was showing how investment in the workforce and high quality equipment can help firms thrive.

Mr Esterson said:- "It was clear to see why Westcoast Workwear are 1 of the UK's leading UK suppliers of branded workwear, sportswear and uniforms. They are a really vibrant outfit; forgive the pun; who are delivering for customers on tight deadlines. While I was there I heard of an order for embroidered hoodies for an equestrian summer camp which the team turned around in 48 hours. The business is going from strength to strength on the back of investment in high quality equipment and staff. Thank you to my constituent Tom Mills, and also Katie Headly, Kevin Rea and the rest of the team, for welcoming me and explaining the successes but also the challenges of running a small business in the North West, such as trying to access Government contracts, and issues relating to late payment. These are common themes that are problematic for many small businesses in the UK and can hold back growth. Westcoast have some brilliant contracts around the country and are seeking new customers across the North West, so I would urge any local businesses or groups to check out Westcoast for any branded workwear or uniform needs."

Westcoast managing Director Tom Mills said:- "Westcoast are a national supplier of branded workwear and PPE with all print and embroidery done at our Southport factory. We are actively looking to work with more local customers"
