British Musical Fireworks Championship 2022

THE British Musical Fireworks Championship took place on Friday, 23 September and Saturday, 24 September 2022, with fantastic displays from 5 competitors.... Sadly, Sunday, 25 September 2022 had to be cancelled due to weather. Both contenders were AJ Pyrotechnics Ltd and Gala Fireworks had almost finished rigging the shows before the plug was pulled. But both teams agreed, it would not have been safe to fire.

"AFTER consulting numerous industry standard weather forecasting organisations, and in full consultation with our competition clerk, wind specialist, tonight’s competitors and firing teams, due to the forecasted wind later this evening, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the event, on Sunday, 25 September 2022. It is unfortunately a risk with the nature of this event, and this is very disheartening for everybody involved, but the safety of our customers is our primary concern. Any tickets purchased for tonight will automatically be refunded and will take 7 to 10 business days. If you purchased a weekend ticket and would like a partial refund, please email:- Tourism@Sefton.Gov.UK no later than Friday, 30 September 2022. We saw 5 competitors fire amazing shows over the previous two evenings and we will continue to judge and crown a winner of the competition, details will be posted on our website and on our socials when the winner has been decided. The 2 competitors from tonight will now be working hard to pack their show up, but will be invited back to compete next year. Thank you to our competitors who have worked tirelessly for months to produce award winning firework displays and thank you to our customers, who have supported our event this year. We hope you enjoyed it."
Kind Regards, Jo Dwyer, Visitor Economy Officer.

Out of the 5 who did fire, this years winners of the 2022 British Musical Fireworks Championship are as follows:-

1st Place - Optimum Fireworks.

2nd Place - SelStar Fireworks.

3rd Place - Rainbow Fireworks.

The other teams taking part where:- Phenomenal Fireworks Ltd, Rainbow Fireworks and the 2 teams who sadly could not fire on the Sunday, GalaPyrotechnics Ltd and Gala Fireworks. Lets hope we get to see their displays in 2023.

It is worth adding that Rainbow Fireworks also put on a very nice tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, at the very end of the Night, on Friday. You can see iton our video coverage of the event at the end of the footage from Rainbow Firework's display video.

Congratulations from all of the team at The British Musical Fireworks Championship who worked so hard to produce their displays.

The British Musical Fireworks Championships are 1 of the biggest pyrotechnic events in the UK and possibly 1 of the hardest to fire at. Displays are set to music and judged by a wide range of criteria, with the main focus on timing to the music, appropriate use of pyrotechnics to the chosen music, as well as music choice. The championships title is highly covered within the UK industry, seeing some of the biggest names within the British pyrotechnic world taking part. If you are a local or a tourist, this is a must-see event.
