Miss Merseyside does impromptu litter pick along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal

THIS year, we have 2 amazing young ladies going to Miss England, representing the area. On 11 October 2022, we popped over to Bootle to watch Miss Merseyside, Paige Cannon-James, who is from West Darby, who was on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, in Bootle, doing a impromptu litter pick.

Paige is dyslexia, and has told the us that in the past she felt like:- "she had no confidence" and felt "thick" but entering pageants changed all this. Now aged 18, she is already well on the way to become an established model, even taking to the runway for London Fashion Week. "I entered the Miss England competition as it is more than just looking good. It gives you a wide range of experiences and you get to try and help the local area, like I did today."

The Litter Pick was for WASUP, which stands for World Against Single Use Plastic and also to help clean up the area of some of the litter. Paige was shocked by just how much they found in such a small area, that they had to go and ask the Strand Shopping Centre for help disposing of the rubbish in their bins!

Paige said:- "I hope this helps a bit. It is such a lovely area, it is just a shame people spoil it with litter."
