Participants Wanted for New Eco-Arts Project

LIVERPOOL'S Theatre in the Rough has been awarded funding for Ground; a new arts project exploring the issue of Climate Anxiety in young people. They are now seeking 10 participants to create original work for a brand new film and publication.

The climate's in crisis, and that's some heavy weather. GROUND asks how we can anchor ourselves when the scale of the problem seems overwhelming.

To explore these feelings positively, Theatre in the Rough will be hosting 2 exclusive:- 'Climate Cafes.' These are friendly spaces where fears and uncertainties about climate change can be expressed safely, over coffee and cake.

Participants will then be invited to create text and images inspired by their connection to outdoor spaces across Sefton. These works will feature in a film installation to be shown at The Atkinson in Southport, as well as being published in a new book.

Chris Fittock, Director of Theatre in the Rough, said:- "The Climate Crisis is an ecological crisis, but it's an emotional crisis too. Over half of young people report feeling anxiety, fear and despair when it comes to climate change. The arts are a positive way to explore these feelings, and turn anxiety into hope."

Participants must be aged between:- 16 and 24, and must live within the Liverpool City Region. No experience is necessary. An application form and more information can be found by going to:- TheatreInTheRough.Com. The deadline for applications is:- Friday, 11 November 2022.
