Maghull Town Council Christmas Tree Switch On and Christmas Craft Fair

ON 30 November 2022, Maghull Town Council's Christmas Tree, that is located on the KGB Playing field, next to the Town Hall and Swimming Baths, was switch on by the Mayor of Maghull, Councillor Kenneth Hughes. Building up to this was a Christmas Market in the Town Hall and after it closed activities moved to the unlit tree. The nights festivities where very simple, but very enjoyable, with carols being sung by members from the Towns local Churches and Aintree's Old Rone Church. To warm those attending, as it was cold outside, free Mulled Wine and mince pies where also given out to all who wanted them. This might have been a low key event, and it didn't go as planned, but it gave a really nice sense of community, and for the older people attending, it brought back fond memories of when people would celebrate Christmas by going to neighbours' houses and sing carols. This type of simple event does make you question of you really do need all the goodies that came with many of the modern Christmas Light Switch On's that we had before the Covid Lockdowns.
