19th Annual BTR Liverpool Santa Dash Coverage - Part 1

ON Sunday, 4 December 2022, the 19th Annual BTR Liverpool Santa Dash took place and was sponsored by Park Christmas Savings, and the official event charity being Alder Hey Children's Charity. If you are unaware what the Liverpool Santa Dash is all about, it is the biggest and longest established Santa Run within the UK and in just the 2nd year (back in 2005) it achieved Guinness World Record status for the Biggest Santa Gathering in the World!

This years event had a very cold, damp start, but that did not reduce the numbers taking part. In fact it proved to be extremely well attended, with the organisers, BTR Liverpool, able to yet again hold 2 runs, a 5k and later a Mini Dash for the kids. Both where set off with Miss England, Jessica Gagen, who is studying a Masters in Liverpool, waving them on. In fact Jessica even ran the full 5K after waving the last few runners through the start line on the Pier Head.

This year, the 5K route ran along The Strand and into Grade I Listed Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, through the City Centre, before heading to the grandstand finish line, at Liverpool Town Hall, complete with 'fake' snow and festive characters.

For youngsters aged 12 and under, the 2022 Mini Dash was also extremely popular. It ran from outside the Town Hall, on Castle Street, then picking up part of the 5k route to finish outside Liverpool Town Hall at the 5k Finish Line. We are told that Alder Hey Children's Charity will be using the money to supporting its ongoing Surgical Neonatal Appeal.

Adam Dixon, Community Fundraiser for Alder Hey Children's Charity, said:- "This was the 2nd year running as the Santa Dash official charity partner. It's the real kick-start to our Christmas fundraising activities. Seeing everyone running through the streets of Liverpool dressed as Santa is absolutely amazing. Every penny you have helped us to raise will make a massive difference towards our new £3 million Surgical Neonatal Appeal, to fund the new unit. If you did not take part and would like to donate to Alder Hay Children's Charity, you still can, by going online at:- Donate.AlderHeyCharity.Org."
