Gritty Crime Play 'Warnock' is heading to Liverpool's Hope Street Theatre

THIS March City Theatre presents the gritty play Warnock at the Hope Street Theatre in Liverpool. Set in a youth detention centre for girls this will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Directed by Becky Moreland, with assistance from Leo Hewitson, Warnock tells the story of several inmates including:- Sasha Kilpatrick played by Shannon Griffiths. We 1st see Sasha living rough on a beach with her best mate on the outside… Dodge played by Johnny Sedgwick-Davies. Things quickly escalate after a poor plan to rob a warehouse on Knowsley industrial estate goes pear shaped and see’s Sasha back in the detention centre.

On the inside, we meet:- ‘Top Dog’ Kerry, Harlow, Gemma, Laura and Spider. All have their backstories, and all have one thing in common…to survive! This is not easy especially with the likes of Mr Abbott played by Alan McDonald walking the corridors of Warnock with evil intentions towards the girls.

However, in the inmate’s corner is the fair, but firm Governor Sara Davies played by Gemma Harrison and the respected Officer Mr Hughes played by Sam Jones. Together they strive to help whenever possible. But unfortunately these girls don’t make it easy.

One of the hardest hitting plays to be produced by City Theatre. It’s been written not to be one dimensional so a little humour is added, and the hope is that this play will stay in people’s memories for a long time to come. Hopefully, it builds a cult following this talent deserves added writer and producer Barry Levy.
