The Keep Britain Tidy's Great British Spring Clean on Southport and Hightown Beaches

ON 1 April 2023, we popped out to take took part in the final 2 "Keep Britain Tidy" events on the Sefton Coastline. The 2 event, at Southport Beach and Hightown Beach where the last of 4 events that had been part of the latest campaign to get our beaches clean. The 2 events, that had been supported by Sefton Council where run by the regular volunteer litter picking groups, who meet regally in both areas, to help take on the litter that is both dropped by visitors and washed up on our beaches.

The Southport even was run by Southport Coastal Clean-Ups, who are always looking for helpers/ This time the clean was backed by Churchtown Primary School, who said:- "This was a fantastic event and a great success. Big thanks to all the children who took part and also to the Southport Coastal Clean-Ups group for providing equipment to us all." Also taking part in the Southport clean up was  Little Miss Teen Merseyside, Ebony Barbé.

The next group taking part in the clean up was Hightown's Beach Clean Group, run by Tommy Norbury.  This group of volunteers are crying out for help, as the section they cover is often the most affected by litter, yet they get the least number of supporters helping them, due to the location often being overlooked. For more information about how you can help them, please go to the group's Facebook Page.

We are told that Sefton Council is holding a Litter Pick also, on the 14 April 2023, on Ainsdale Beach. For more information please l:- Jordan.Scott@Sefton.Gov.UK with your full contact information and name.

if you are holing any clean up session or events and you would like us to raise your groups profile, please do contact us though our newsroom by emailing:-  News24@SouthportReporter.Com, with all your contact information and also dates and times of the clean ups.
