Our Eurovision Coverage - Part 2

THE 67th Eurovision Song Contest was held on behalf of Ukraine in Liverpool, UK over the from 9 May to 13 May 2023 at the Liverpool ACC. The event was a huge success, with multiple events taking place in the build up to it and throughout the Competition. We had the privilege of attending many of the activities on offer.

Throughout the week, the atmosphere in Liverpool was electric, with Liverpool gaining high praise from everyone we spoke to, saying:- "What an amazing City" and that:- "We are so friendly and helpful."  This was amazing to hear about our Region and the City.

We are told that an estimated audience of over 160 million will have seen this year's Contest which was broadcast live in the 37 participating countries and online on TikTok and YouTube. The 26 finalists performed live in front of an audience of over 6,000 inside the Liverpool Arena. And also many more watched the activities at the Liverpool Pier Head as well!

As you probably already know, the Contest this year was a co-production between the EBU and BBC and it was the world's most complex production yet, involving a vast number of resources and people.  Behind-the-scenes the event had approximately 6,000 production staff involved. Amazingly the production used 25 cameras, 150 microphones, and over 2,000 lighting fixtures, plus miles on miles of cables.

This year, as normal their could only be 1 winner and out of the 26 Grand Finalists was Swedish singer Loreen, with the catchy number:- “Tattoo” and coming in at 2^nd placed was Finland's Käärijä singing:- “Cha, Cha, Cha.” 3rd place went to Israel with Noa Kirel's "Unicorn."
