Mable Needs a Home!

THIS lovely dog is looking for a home where she can be a beloved family pet, after a being found alone and frightened, tied to a fence in Liverpool.

Deb Hughes, Communications Officer, says:- "Poor Mable was left alone and frightened, tied to a railing on a busy road. Luckily, a kind member of the public found her and brought her into our rescue. We scanned her to see if she was microchipped, as we always do. It was heart breaking when her chip came back as:- 'Puppy Number 9.' It seems that this lovely dog has never had a name or a loving home. She has 1 of those now, as we've named her Mabel. We're now looking for the forever home that she deserves after her sad start in life. It looks like Mabel has been used for breeding, then abandoned after just having puppies."

Mabel is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross, and is around 18 months old. Since she's been at Freshfields, Mabel has blossomed into a very friendly and affectionate girl who loves to snuggle up on the sofa. She has been spending the last couple of weeks in a foster home with a member of the Kennels team, where she is slowly getting used to a home environment. With a routine and regular encouragement, she's a quick learner, and is enjoying being loved and cared for!

When she's out and about Mabel is keen to meet new people and dogs; she is sociable with dogs though does need some confidence building when it comes to socialising, as she doesn't seem to know what to do!

Mabel can be a bit over enthusiastic and a little 'mouthy' when she is playing, which is quite typical of the breed! An ideal home for Mable would be 1 where any children in the home are aged 16+. She does try to chase cats so she would need her home to be cat free. Te centre says that they would consider a home with another dog, providing introductions go well at the rescue.

Mabel came into our care when she was found tied to a fence in the Liverpool area. Luckily, a passer by found her and brought her into the rescue. The rescue then discovered that she had been living in the homeless community and had seemingly been abandoned after just having puppies.

Since being in our care, Mabel has shown herself to be a very friendly girl who loves to snuggle up on the sofa. She has been spending the last couple of weeks in a foster home with a member of the kennels team, where she is slowly getting used to a home environment. She does need a bit of work on her toilet training, as the rescue says they don't think she's been shown where to go. They added that she is getting the hang of it though and with a routine and regular encouragement. The center says she will learn quickly.

When she's out and about she is keen to meet new people and dogs; she is sociable with dogs though does need some confidence building when it comes to socialising, as she doesn't seem to know what to do!

During her time in foster, Mabel has shown that she doesn't like to be left alone. The rescue thinks that after a couple of months in a new home she will be able to work on this, however any potential home will need to be aware that this will take time.

She can be a little mouthy when she is playing, typical of the breed! Due to this, any children in the home would need to be aged 16+. She does try to chase cats so she would need her home to be cat free. The rescue would consider a home with another dog, providing introductions go well at the rescue.
