The 101st Ainsdale Show - Part 1 of 2

THE Ainsdale Show is 1 of the UK's oldest Village shows to be held as a yearly event, and up until Covid19, only the 2nd World War lead to any shows being cancelled. This community event is run by the Ainsdale Horticultural Society, with the help of both Ainsdale Methodist Church Hall and Sefton Council, amongst others.  This years show was held over 2 days, with the main activities taking place on the Saturday. Traditionally this event has charged people to attend, but due to the cost of living crisis, this years show was free to visit. The start of the show on the Saturday was hampered by the strong winds and a damp start, as you can see in the video footage and photos that where taken for us. But as the day went on, the weather improved.

Opening the show was the local Southport MP, Damien Moore, and the Skelmersdale Prize Band. Unlike in previous years of late, the event was split between the:- Village Green, the Ainsdale Methodist Church and the Ainsdale Lunch and Leisure.  This was done to keep osts down and also allow for more room, so the show can develop more in 2024.  Comparing and FJ's for the show was local radio station Mighty Radio...

Other displays this year on the Saturday, within the Village Green Arena area included performances by the fantastic:- Revoloution Dance Troop, Shoreside School, Scarlett Silcock, St Johns School, King's Meadow School, Revolution Dance, "Yooks" Ukulele Band, Aintree Tigers, Mr Stix, Unite Marshall Arts, Mr Stix, and the team from Southport Gymnastics. Ending the days events where the brilliant West Lancs Dogs Display Team.  To name just a few...  We will cover Sunday's activities in our report within our next edition.

The group are also looking for helpers for the 2024 show, as well as sponsors. If you are interested in getting involved or donating money, please get in contact with them. More information can be found on:- AinsdaleHorticulturalSociety.Org.UK.
