Sefton Council want your views to develop brand new Culture Strategy

SINCE 10 July 2023 Sefton Council and it's partners are seeking to develop a cultural strategy for the Borough, though a public consultation. The results of the consultation will inform the development of Sefton's cultural strategy and help to set the path towards greater creative collaboration in the Borough. The results will also act as a guide for all planning towards Sefton’s Borough of Culture celebrations in 2025.

Sefton Council says that by developing a shared vision for culture within Sefton they aim to celebrate and promote opportunities for cultural and creative participation across the Borough, but to do this they require the views of residents of all ages, backgrounds and interests.

Cllr Trish Hardy, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, said:- “Sefton is synonymous with culture. From art to music, sport to the big screen, we are a borough with culture in our veins. There are famous actors and musicians, inspirational artists and writers, who all started their lives in Sefton. We’re home to internationally renowned art installations, one of the most famous golf courses in the world, incredibly rare flora and fauna and more. We are the definition of culture and we want to build on such a fantastic legacy by doing more for our future generations. strategy And in order to do so we need everyone to have their say and contribute to the creation of our Sefton Cultural Strategy. With your help we can advance local opportunities for creativity and reaffirm Sefton’s place as one of the North West’s best places to be for culture.”

Should you wish to take part you can do so by visiting the Council's Website. This Culture Strategy Consultation closes on closes 13 August 2023, and please do remember that should you fill in the comments box within the Consultation Page, remember that they have a limit is 300 characters.

The Council also says:- "We know that the definition of Culture is very wide so for this consultation please remember that we have set our definition as:-Culture and creativity are universal themes and may mean different things to different people. For the purposes of this project, the terms culture and creativity will include the arts - music, drama, film, dance, literature and art & crafts. It will also include heritage, such as the history of our buildings and natural spaces. Sport is included in its relationship to a sense of place, heritage and social identity, but not in terms of delivering sporting activity."

With your help, Sefton may soon have a brand-new cultural strategy designed to boost the Borough’s incredible array of talent within its communities.
