The 2023 Formby Festival - Part 1 of 2

THE Formby Festival was held again over:- 14 July to 16 July 2023, on Duke Street Park, in Formby. This event aims to recreate the atmosphere, sights and sounds of the historic Formby Shows that ended at the start of the Millennium. The 1st Formby Festival was held in 2013, and has been held ever since in July, except in both:- 2020, and 2021, due to Covid19.

Sadly, the Festival was badly affected by the weather, as rain and high winds caused many of the planned activities to be scrapped and far lower numbers of people attending.  But, the show went on and it was still a very success full event, with lots of interesting activities to see and do.

This year's event has a fully paked line up of live music, played throughout the event, on a purpose built stage.  Other live activities took place, with many side attractions, such as 'pat' the dinosaurs, performances from the Vander Super Heroes Wheel Of Death Show, along with displays from both the Katumba, and the Viva Brazil carnival dancers.

That is not forgetting the Extreme Mountain Bike Show, plus the very talented kids' entertainer Mr Stix.  Adding to the mix on the Sunday were the brilliant Bootle based Attitude Dance group. This event even had a Firework Display, despite the high winds limiting part of this display.

Exhibitors this year included:- Formby Hall Golf Resort; Lancashire Wildlife Trust; Village Vets; Costco; Chorley’s Angels. First Aid; Dog Treats; also Glitter Garden.

This year's event was also raising money for Bauer Media‘s Cash for Kids, a charity that supports children and young people affected by poverty, abuse, neglect, life limiting illness and those who have additional needs.
