Excellence Through Education: Sefton 6th Form College Launches

HUGH Baird College has launched its newly named 6th Form Centre, Sefton 6th Form College. Hugh Baird College merged with South Sefton College back in 2017, at which point it became the South Sefton Campus of Hugh Baird College. Since this merger, the South Sefton Campus has experienced an impressive evolution, marked by significant growth in student numbers.

To reflect this ongoing transformation and better encapsulate the student experience, the College has announced that the 6th Form will carry a new name: Sefton 6th Form College. This re-branding signifies the next exciting chapter in the College's educational journey.

Sefton 6th Form College offers a comprehensive selection of A-levels and Level 3 BTEC courses to students aged between 16 and 19. The College fosters a supportive 6th Form Centre environment where students' academic aspirations are encouraged and nurtured. Additionally, students have the opportunity to participate in a dynamic enhancement program, providing a well-rounded educational experience.

Rachael Hennigan, Principal and Chief Executive of Hugh Baird College, commented:- "We take great pride in our history of aiding students on their path to progress. By enrolling at our 6th Form, students become part of a centre rich in resources and dedicated to helping them achieve their future goals, be it attending University, landing an apprenticeship, or transitioning directly into the workplace. We believe this name change will allow future students and their families to readily identify the opportunities and courses available at the College."

Joe Poole, Assistant Principal of the 6th Form, said:- "Becoming Sefton 6th Form College allows us to communicate our identity and purpose more clearly to our community. We function as a 6th Form College with a core focus on academic excellence. Every student who joins us is encouraged and supported to achieve top grades, grow as individuals, and smoothly transition into University, an apprenticeship, or employment. Young individuals in this area no longer need to travel outside the borough for high quality 6th Form education, it's available right on their doorstep."

Sefton 6th Form College remains part of Hugh Baird College, so students will still have access to the same fantastic learner support, facilities, and teaching staff that the College is renowned for. The leadership at the College will also remain the same.

Sefton 6th Form College will be accepting applications for:- September 2024 entry from:- 5 October 2023.
