Hugh Baird College Launches Early Years / Childcare Apprenticeships

HUGH Baird College is excited to announce the launch of its Early Years / Childcare Apprenticeships at Level 2 and Level 3, aimed at employers looking to train and develop their workforce in the childcare sector.

The Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship, accredited by NCFE, is designed for individuals who are just beginning their journey in childcare or are working in a beginner position. This program provides the foundational skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the childcare sector, offering apprentices a comprehensive understanding of child development, safety, and care.

For those looking to advance their careers and step into a senior role within the sector, the Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship, also accredited by NCFE, offers a more in depth exploration of childcare. This program delves into advanced aspects of child development, leadership within childcare settings, and the implementation of childcare policies and procedures.

As part of its Early Years Educator Level 3 apprenticeship, Hugh Baird College is offering a free Level 3 Award in Paediatric 1st Aid to all apprentices. This training will ensure apprentices are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to provide 1st aid to children in an emergency.

Debbie Stock, Director of Apprenticeships at Hugh Baird College, said:- "Our new apprenticeship programs are a fantastic opportunity for employers to invest in their workforce. By providing their employees with the chance to learn and grow, they are not only enhancing their service delivery but also contributing to the development of the childcare sector as a whole."

By investing in apprenticeships, employers can ensure their employees are equipped with the latest skills and knowledge whilst providing several benefits to their businesses, including:-

  • Keeping or developing their competitive advantage.

  • Increasing their productivity and efficiency.

  • Enhancing their employee satisfaction and retention.

  • Attracting new employees and reducing recruitment costs.

British Heart Foundation Southport appeals for volunteers

THE BHF Southport Home Store is appealing to the local community to get involved and donate the gift of time by volunteering. The store is inviting nearby residents who may be looking for something new to try, to take on 1 of the fantastic volunteering roles available.

As well as providing crucial support to the BHF, volunteering can also provide great work experience, boost your CV, increase wellbeing and provide a social network within the local community.

The BHF are asking those who can offer a few hours or possibly a couple of mornings or afternoons a week to come and join the team, meet people and learn some new skills. Volunteers can learn and develop a range of skills, from telephone and logistical administration and helping on the shop floor to sorting stock or even helping to research, photograph and list items for the BHF online shop. Behind the scenes there are also physical warehouse activities or specialist roles for those who want to channel their passions.

There are also volunteer stock generators and volunteer recruiters who get out and about in the local area. These roles can provide transferrable skills for job applications and help with boosting confidence, while also helping the BHF raise funds for life saving research.

The charity is now urging the local community to support their nearest shop by taking up flexible volunteering opportunities, whether it's a few shifts or a longer term commitment.

Every pound raised in BHF shops helps the charity to support those living with heart and circulatory diseases. Your gift of time can help the BHF, help them.
