What has been the reaction to the Lego Dinosaurs in Southport?

THIS Easter and throughout the Easter week, Southport Town Centre was taken over by Lego Dinosaurs. with all the train disruption, weather, and also the cost of living issues, it was good to see something taking place that appeared to bring more people in to the Town Center again. Interestingly, we have been told that trade in most shots has remained lower than normal for an Easter Week, by some traders.

We decided to see what people thoughts of the DinoTown idea, and had a mostly positive response. For example, James, who came with his wife and kids from Wigan, said they had seen the event advertised online and popped over to take a look. They had 2 young kids who told us in unison that the logo sculptures where:- "amazing!" with the boy, aged 8, adding:- "It would have been nice if they made sounds, but they are good. Can I take them home with me?"

Other examples of comments we have had back from our questions regarding this event are as follows:-

Jean Dykes, who comes from Cambridge, said:- "Beautiful, very clever."

Lisa, from Haig Avenue, Kew, responded:- "Love it. Fresh air, exercise, a laugh, learning facts, chance to win giant chocolate egg! I'm in agony today (fibromyalgia and back pain) I thought they'd all be in one.""

Martin Rowan, from Ainsdale, commented:- "I think if the weather was nicer, there would be a lot more visitors."

John Dyson, from Hillside, said:- "Great fun for the kid's, they seemed to really enjoy it, even though it was raining. I just wish M&S hadn't put there's near the toys!"

We did get a few negative comments about the event, like Andy Frobisher, from North Meols who just said:- "yuk!" when asked to give his thoughts about the Lego Dinosaurs. Also, David, from Southport, added:- "I thought they would be bigger. The fence stops the kids from getting a clear view and I had to keep picking them up to see them. they could do better with the presentation of these things." Others asked why they picked Lego Dinosaurs, especially when the Town had lost its Lego shop, not so long ago, and that they couldn't see what the connection to the Christian celebration of Easter." Also commenting on the display, Edward James, from Liverpool said:- "It would have been good to have had sound effects and lighting on them."
