BAFTA and Annie award winning TV production company based in the North West placed into Creditors' Voluntary Liquidation
A well known BAFTA and Annie
award winning TV production company based in the North West has been placed into
Creditors' Voluntary Liquidation. Conrad Pearson and Patrick Lannagan of Mazars,
the international audit, tax and advisory firm, were appointed as Joint
Liquidators of ('the Company') on:- 2 April
2024.
This move comes just weeks after the animation studio found out that they had
won Best International Animated Series at this years British Animation Awards,
on:- 8 March 2024, for:- 'The Tiny Chef Show.'
The company was incorporated in 2000 and has employed hundreds of creative,
talented people; building a reputation for production and creative excellence.
The Company specialised in a diverse range of animation led projects and was
best known for productions including:- The Clangers, Scream Street and Strange
Hill High.
The
Factory was based at:- Unit 5, St Georges
Court, Dairyhouse Lane, Altrincham, United Kingdom, but employed people from all
over the North West, including from the Liverpool City Region. They also use of
stories provided by local authors, such as those from the Scream Street's
author, the late Tommy Donbavand, who was from Merseyside.
Unfortunately, over the last 12 months the number of projects being green lit by
broadcasters around the world has been severely cut as the global economy and
audience behaviours have changed markedly; these challenging market conditions
were a significant factor in the insolvency of the business.
this down turn and led to the Joint Liquidators instructing JPS Chartered
Surveyors to assist with the sale of the Company's assets via an online auction,
including puppets of various well known public and popular culture figures used
for Newzoids which ran from:- 2015 to 2016.
this is a huge loss for the creative industry within the North West of England
and for the UK as a whole and highlights the effect the current economic and
political climate is having on the Arts and Media industry. Sadly, the loss of
this valuable creative business is just 1 of many in recent years. With out
urgent support for all areas within the creative industry in the UK, that has
been lacking since the Covid lockdowns and Brexit, many UK businesses, like
Factory Transmedia Ltd are closing for good. But why should we worry? Well, this
affects us far more than you would think, with even more control of our media
and arts going to US and other countries, further weakening our economy and
culture.
