Sailing Open Day in Southport at West Lancs Yacht Club

THE West Lancashire Yacht Club held (WLYC) held a FREE SAIL at its Open Day and we popped over to see what was happening. The idea of this event was to promote an interest in sailing and allow members of the public to get a taste of the sport. For more information about the West Lancashire Yacht Club see:- WLYC.Org.UK.

Also, this event was a way to advertise the return of one of the hardest Enterprise, GP14, Lark, and Firefly dinghy events in the world. If you are unaware, the WLYC holds the fantastic 24 Hour Race from its facilities on the Southport's Marine Lake, This is a true endurance race for sailing enthusiasts, that has also attracted Olympic team members and Round The World Yacht Race crews to take part, from all over the world! The WLYC 24 Hour Race, 2024 will take place again on Saturday, 21 September, and Sunday 22 September 2024, around a triangular course on the Marine Lake. Who knows, those taking part in this FREE SAIL event might be sailing in a future 24 hour team or even a round the world yacht race!
