The Qube Liverpool International Tennis Tournament 2024

THE 2024 Liverpool International Tennis Tournament ran from:- Thursday, 13 June to Saturday, 15 June 2024 and this years title sponsor was Qube. Sadly, the 13th proved unlucky with rain spoiling play and Friday, weather conditions nearly put a dampener on things, but the weather improved and play resumed. We visited on Friday and got some fantastic footage and photos at this brilliant sporting event.

If you are unaware, 14 years ago, in 2017, the event moved from Calderstones Park to the amazing 207 year old Liverpool Cricket Club, in Aigburth, Liverpool, and was chosen to host the tennis competition as a warm up for Wimbledon, and has been most years ever since. But did you know that Liverpool Cricket Club has a history of tennis dating back to the 1800s? Up to 2017, Liverpool Cricket Club's last tennis competition took place over 60 years after the Wimbledon legend Lottie Dod appeared there in 1892. In the 1950s, the world's leading stars Lew Hoad, Ken Rosewall and Pancho Gonzalez played an exhibition on a court constructed in front of the pavilion. So it is amazing to see tennis return to this very historic location.

This year the event played host to:- Emily Sartz Lunde from Norway, Sachia Vickery, a 29 year old American tennis player from Florida, along with the British star Tara Moore. Thats not forgetting US tennis star Robert Kendrick, British professional tennis player Marcus Willis, British tennis ledgend Ken Skupski, 19 year old British player Patrick Brady, another Brit, 17 years old Conor Brady, who is looking at competing at Wimbledon Juniors, plus the Essex twins Freddy and George Ward...

For more information see:- LiverpoolTennis.Co.UK. We have lots more photos on the following 6 pages within this edition.  Did you attended this event? What are your thoughts about it?  Please do email our Newsroom at:- News24@SouthportReporter.Com or send us a message on:-  Mastodon, Facebook or Twitter, and let us know...
