Award winning BBC broadcaster, TV personality and DJ to open this year's 100th Anniversary Southport Flower Show

SOUTHPORT Flower Show organisers are delighted to announce that Adele Roberts will open this year's Southport Flower Show. Adele was born in Southport and is most recently known for her television appearances on:- 'I'm a Celebrity…Get me Out of Here!' and 'Dancing on Ice.'

In 2002 she landed her 1st radio job at Rock FM, and in 2020, it was announced that she would be the new host of Radio 1's Weekend Breakfast Show. In August 2021 she provided cover for Trevor Nelson on BBC Radio 2.

Adele was diagnosed with stage 2 bowel cancer in 2021. She underwent colostomy surgery and chemotherapy. The received the all clear from Doctors the following June, and now lives with a stoma bag. She also became the fastest woman to complete the London Marathon with a stoma, clocking a time of 3hr 30 min and 22sec.

In her new memoir, Personal Best: From Rock Bottom to the Top of the World, the radio presenter speaks about how she 1st had cancer symptoms while on I'm a Celeb in 2019.

The show's organisers say they can't wait to welcome Adele to this amazing 100th show. Adele will be opening the show at:- 11 am, within the Garden Theatre, and will remain in the Theatre for a Q&A session and to talk about her new book:- "Personal Best."

Southport Flower Show, sponsored by the Seventy Ninth Group, is the UK's largest independent flower show and attracts over 55,000 visitors across 4 days.

Our celebrity chefs confirmed to date are:- Phil Vickery of This Morning, Platinum Pudding winner Jemma Melvin, Matt Tebbutt of Saturday Kitchen and Nisha Katona MBE; Restaurateur, cookbook author and TV chef.

Comedy legend Mick Miller unveiled as latest act for 2024 Southport Comedy Festival

SOUTHPORT Comedy Festival has announced yet another big name for this year's festival in association with Halliwell Jones MINI.

1 of our most treasured entertainers Mick Miller has been at the top of his game for over 40 years. Often referred to as:- "The bald guy with the long hair," Mick 1st came to prominence in the 70's on the iconic ITV show:- 'The Comedians.'

In the 1980s, Mick co-hosted his own Saturday evening show on ITV The Funny Side along with Cheryl Baker and the late Mike Smith.

Thanks to shows such as Des O'Connor Tonight, he has appeared on TV every year since The Comedians.

Mick remains as relevant and funny today, he is one of the few comedians of his generation who has made the transition onto the alternative circuit, creating a younger fan base along the way. He also remains as busy as ever working all over the world. In October 2017, he realised one of his lifelong ambitions, performing to a packed house and receiving a standing ovation at one of the iconic Las Vegas venues as part of the ITV series:- 'Last Laugh in Vegas.'

Mick has also landed several acting roles to include:- Ideal with Johnny Vegas, and Peter Kay's Car Share. He has also made appearances on shows such as John Bishop's Only Joking and Comedy Rocks with Jason Manford and They Think It's All Over.

This will be a masterclass in stand-up comedy not to be missed.

Mick is the 12th big name to be announced for this year's 17 day event which will be held for a 4th year in a luxury heated and seated marquee courtesy of Elite Marquees, at:- Victoria Park, Southport, from:- 27 September to Sunday, 13 October 2024.

Mick joins an already stellar line up at this year's festival to include the undisputed godfather of modern stand up Ben Elton, Persian Comedy Powerhouse Omid Djalili, German comedy ambassador Henning Wehn, Festival favourites Jason Byrne, Jimeoin, Godfather of political comedy Mark Thomas and Star of ITV'S The Chase Paul Sinha:- 'The Sinnerman,' comedy stars of TV Jo Caulfield, Hal Cruttenden, Ria Lina and host of smash hit podcast:- 'Have a Word,' Dan Nightingale.

Comedy legend Mick Miller will be performing at the festival on:- Tuesday 1 October 2024.
