If this event goes well, then we may organise some others in the future; perhaps to show off prom dresses, or maybe to show off our mother of the bride collection. The Engine Room is a lovely space to host this event, with their stage area, and the opportunity for people to buy their drinks, including their delicious 92 Degrees Coffee. We have several models from local High Schools who will be modelling the outfits for us. We are really keen to promote the event and let people know they can come and see what is on offer. If someone sees something they really like at the Fashion Show, they can put down a deposit if they so wish in order to secure their prom dress. We also offer payment plans. Wayfarers Shopping Arcade is such a stunning building which really suits events like this. If anyone would like to know any further details then please call in and see us or contact us at any time.”

Did you see the amazing Aurora (Northern Lights) display?

DID you see the mysterious streaks of light, known as the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) this week? Our Editor Patrick Trollope will have lots of pictures in ourselves, including a rare phenomenon known as:- 'Steve. Steve' is comprised of a fast moving stream of extremely hot particles called a sub Auroral ion drift, or SAID, and is only spotted in the presence of an aurora.

The Aurora is a geomagnetic storm that occurs when charged particles ejected from the Sun, known as the solar wind, slam into the Earth’s upper atmosphere, at speeds of up to 45 million mph (72 million kph). As the charged particles collide, into Earth's atmosphere around the magnetic poles, they hit atoms and molecules, this impact results in the atmosphere gases exciting their atoms and ions, resulting in the emitting of light at various wavelengths, producing these amazing displays in the process.

Did you know that the Earth's ionosphere mainly contains nitrogen and oxygen, along with small amounts of hydrogen, helium, and other gases. It is these gasses are the key players in producing the colours we see when the Aurora takes place,  For example, the blue and violet colours are due to ionized diatomic nitrogen molecules These excited nitrogen molecules release blue light when they return to a more stable energy state. The red colours are produced at both high and low attitudes due to diatomic nitrogen and Monatomic oxygen, as the oxygen absorbs the solar radiation.  The yellow and green colours comes from monatomic oxygen comes from oxygen atoms colliding with lower energy electrons released by excited nitrogen molecules at mid levels within our atmosphere.
