RBL Formby and MVT hold a military vehicle display at the Pheasant in Hightown

DESPITE the cold temperatures and damp conditions, on:- 12 October 2024 the Formby Branch of the Royal British Legion and the Military Vehicle Trust (MVT) held a free event entitled:- 'Operation Obviate' The Pheasant Inn, near Hightown. The weather did hamper attendance, but it was still well attended. During the event a minuets silence was held for those who died in the 2 Boer Wars, a conflict fought between the British Empire and the 2 Boer republics (the South African Republic and Orange Free State, in South Africa, which took place between:- 1880 to 1902. These 2 wars are often forgotten, but the local area lost many soldiers to it, and most of the local grave yards have graves from those who lost their lives in the 2 conflicts within them.  The event also had a replica 1st World War Ambulance in attendance, plus a very interesting display within the Pub.
