Liverpool's new radio Station is now on aire

A new DAB radio Station has now launched in Liverpool called:- "Old Skool Jamz," Broadcasting from the popular Soul Train Bar on Seel Street; St Peters Square ,in the heart of Liverpool City Centre. The radio Station was launched by Davy T who is behind the Soul Train bar, the over 25's bar which has been a huge success since opening in 2022. The new Station will play music exclusively from the Old Skool Clubs and Bars that were so popular in Liverpool, back in the day. Venues like the Conti, Quinn's, Cagney's, The Buzz Club, The State and many more. The DJ/Presenters on Old Skool Jamz will include DJ Davy T as well as many of the original Old Skool club DJ's from some of those classic clubs Old Skool Jamz is currently available on DAB, Alexa, Smart Speakers and Online. Later this month the Station will also be available via the Old Skool Jamz App on Apple and Android.

Well known local producer, DJ and promoter Davy T said:- "In all my years working on and listening to radio Stations there are very few who play constant Oldskool music back to back from back in the day. We wanted a radio Station with big tunes that take you back in time. Songs from your 1st night out in Quinns, that Sunday night in Kirklands, or a Saturday in the State. This is where Old Skool Jamz will sit in the radio landscape. Music that will take you back to a different time. We all know music evokes emotions and brings back memories and that is what we want."

The Station already has approx 20,000 listeners in just over a week since launch, listening daily and this is growing day by day. The launch of the apps will also help these figures rise even further. Davy T continues:- "Liverpool clubland has its very own unique sound. Our 24 hours a day playlist will be all those anthems you remember. Tunes from Kenny Thomas, Luther Vandross, Destiny's Child, Robin S, Blackbox and many many more. Oh and we will also be playing a few peaceful hour:- 'slowies' each day too! We have a huge listener base already from around the Liverpool Region but it's great we also have listeners as far afield as the USA, Australia ,Canada and Spain too who have all been in touch requesting songs and loving what they are hearing on the Station."

Local Mental Health Hospital Celebrates Community with Christmas Tree Competition

THIS week, Bowmere Hospital, part of Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, embraced the spirit of Christmas with a festive tree decorating competition that brought together service users, staff, and family members. Each ward showcased their themed Christmas tree in the Oasis Café, creating an atmosphere of joy and celebration with festive drinks, cakes, and games.

Organised by the Occupational Therapy team, the event culminated in an awards ceremony where prizes for the best tree and runner up were presented by Bowmere's Matron, Aoife Coyne, and Practice Development Nurse, Laura Jones.

Matron Aoife Coyne shared her thoughts on the event:- "We were blown away by the talent and thought that went into each Christmas tree. The decision to pick a winner was incredibly difficult. The detail and care in every design were extraordinary, and it was heartwarming to see service users from all wards come together to foster a sense of community and celebrate Christmas in such a meaningful way."

The winning tree, themed:- 'It's a Wonderful Life,' was created by Cherry Ward, which provides specialist treatment for people with dementia in West Cheshire. The tree's theme drew inspiration from the era of the ward's patients, making it particularly meaningful.

Amy Edisbury-Williams, Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor (OTTI) and part of the winning team, expressed her delight:- "We are so thrilled that Cherry Ward's tree won the competition.:- 'It's a Wonderful Life' resonates with our patients' generation, and we had so much fun brainstorming and bringing the theme to life."

The runner up was Willow Ward's:- 'Paddington Tree,' which showcased origami crafts and marmalade sandwiches.

Maria Yuen, Lead Occupational Therapist (OT) and part of the Willow Ward team, shared:- "The Christmas tree event started during lockdown and has grown year on year. The creativity surpasses expectations every time. This year, service users truly enjoyed the process of baking, crafting decorations, and decorating the tree. It's been a joyful and therapeutic experience for all involved."

The Eastway Ward team, which supports people with learning disabilities, won the People's Choice Award for their:- 'Sensory Christmas Tree,' featuring decorations designed to be appreciated through the different senses. The team aimed to highlight how understanding sensory needs can make Christmas celebrations inclusive for everyone.

Other themes included:- Heroes Tree by Juniper Ward, highlighting service users' personal heroes, a Grinch-Themed Tree by Maple Ward and Appreciation Tree by Beech Ward, celebrating gratitude and kindness.

The trees will remain on display throughout Bowmere Hospital for the Christmas season.
