Discover the Magic of Christmas at Dunham Massey

CHRISTMAS at Dunham Massey, in Altrincham, Cheshire, returns for its 4th year to the historic National Trust property, from 20 November to 30 December 2020. This year you will discover new immersive installations as the magical winter trail is set to be bigger and better than ever. Enter beside giant glittering deer into a world festooned with seasonal cheer enhanced by a soundtrack of festive classics.

New trail highlights for 2020:-

►  Dancing Lights on Water.

►  Crystal and Fire Garden.

►  Giant Snowflake Light Display.

Despite the Pandemic, we are told tickets are selling out fast for this magical, after dark, illuminated Christmas trail, therefore early booking is advised.

If all goes to plan you will be able to wander beneath stunning tree canopies drenched in Christmas colour. Immerse yourself within bouncing lines of light and discover giant luminescent sculptures rising high into the night sky.

Stroll beside colour changing lakeside reflections and under trees dripping with silvery shards of light, baubles and stars.

Huge snowflakes create an aerial kaleidoscope over the Gardens and the tunnel of light returns with twinkling splendour.

Also, for 2020, why not pause for a moment of quiet reflection at the crystal and fire garden, aglow with hundreds of flickering flames.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas and complete your walk under the stars with mulled wine or hot chocolate. Don't forget to watch out for Father Christmas along the way.

Unemployed and looking to train and develop in the world of dance with Liverpool's favourite cultural dance professionals

ARE you passionate about dance and culture? Would you like to learn more about how dance can impact and improve people's lives? If so we have the course that is waiting for you! Movema have designed a free accredited training programme for 19 year olds plus who are unemployed and out of education, based in the Liverpool City Region (Liverpool, Halton, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens, and Wirral.) Thanks to our funders European Social Fund for making this possible.

Holly Prest, Artistic Director, Global Grooves said:- "We are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity at such a crucial time of uncertainty, increasing unemployment and reaching out to BAME dance artists as a response to the Black Lives Matter Movement. Our goal is to provide opportunities and training to those who may experience barriers with their career progression within the dance sector. Apply now and I cannot wait to meet you!"

The programme will be lead by world dance and personal development specialists, and has been developed with partners in the dance and arts sector to ensure the topics are relevant and fit for purpose with the goal of developing learners into further learning, completion of an accredited qualification, and/or employment.

I'm excited to see the future development of this timely programme and its continued support of and dialogue with Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic dance artists enabling them to fulfil their creative ambitions and aspirations. Arts Council recognises the valuable contribution made by ethnically diverse artists to the richness of arts and culture in this country."

The programme has structured teacher lead sessions, as well as on the job training and independent study hours for learners to attend free Movema dance classes, use Movema's wifi hot desk for tasks and an independent learning plan unique to each participant.

We draw on worldwide cultural art forms to deliver jaw dropping, inspirational Carnival experiences through music, dance and visual arts. We are passionate about connecting young people, communities, and organisations by creating the most extraordinary opportunities, moments and memories. Through providing training, mentoring and consultancy coupled with volunteering, participation and performance, we have witnessed that the immersive nature of Carnival can take people on phenomenal journeys, allowing them to discover everything they need for their own personal growth. We are very excited to be working in partnership with Movema on this programme and look forward to developing ways of supporting people into diverse arts."

The course will cover the following topics:- personal development, Teaching Inclusive Dance, Dance Techniques, Choreography, Business Skills, Masterclasses on Indian and Afro Brazilian dance and culture (delivered by Global Grooves and Milap) and more!
