THIS
year John Lennon Airport has been through some of the most important re-developments in it's long history and they are
now near to completion. Not only has the airport redeveloped it's self, but it has also had its best year for trade yet. Southport's branch of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry were invited to take a look around and see this re-development
and find out more about the airports plans for the future. The group were first welcomed with a seminar about the developments that have happened and the future plans that the airport has in stall.
A spokesman for the airport said "The planed extra transport links and also improved facilities will help
increase the airports commercial standing and also help us to improve job and trade opportunities
on Merseyside. This will increase as the airports trade
increases. Coupled with the Capital of Culture, the predicted increase of customers will have a dramatic impact on Liverpool and its surroundings, with tourism and tourist related activities increasing.
This will also affect Southport. So the airport has focused on improving the infrastructure out side the airport as well as inside,
so that customers and the airlines keep using the airport and stopping over on Merseyside."
After the seminar the group made up from interested companies, ranging from web design companies to shops and training groups,
all from Southport, were taken on a tour to see the developments and to see for them selves the improvements that the airport have
made this year.
