Southport selected for Post Office Mobile launch
THE Post Office Mobile has officially
landed in Southport, with 6 branches in the area amongst 213 branches selected
out of the Post Office's 11,500+ branches nationwide to launch its new mobile
service.
The branches rolling out the service are Lord Street North Post Office (599 Lord
Street North), Cemetery Rd Post Office (128 Cemetery Road, Birkdale), Long Lane
Post Office (119 Holborn Hill, Ormskirk), Sussex Rd Post Office (185 Sussex
Road), Burscough Bridge Post Office (35 Liverpool Road North, Ormskirk) and
Hesketh Drive Post Office (30 Hesketh Drive).
The new Post Office Mobile service will enable customers to pay less as they go.
Designed to offer great value and transparency to the nation's 36 million Pay As
You Go users (44% of the mobile market), calls to both landlines and mobiles are
8p per minute standard rate; up to 77% cheaper than some of the other main
providers; and 10p per text. Customer top ups will be doubled once in every 30
day period; for example, purchase £10 in any 30 day period and the Post Office
gives you £20 worth of credit. The free credit lasts for 30 days, helping to
keep people in and around Southport talking for longer. Bundles can be bought at
competitive prices, starting at just £5 for 250 minutes, 3,000 texts and 500MB
of data.
Customers already use the Post Office for around 11 million top up transactions
a year and Martin George, Commercial Director, Post Office, says entering into
mobile is therefore a natural step:- "Post Office Mobile will add to our
170+ essential services, which we already provide to our customers, including
home phone and broadband. We know customers in and around Southport like to use
‘Pay As You Go' as they come in to our branches to top up. But, many ‘Pay as You
Go' customers are paying really high call charges and shouldn't be. The Post
Office Mobile service provides great value and simple prices all supported by
our dedicated Post Office Mobile customer service team."
Research shows that 1 in 3, Pay As You Go users consider changing providers
every 18 months and 1 in 3 said they would consider the Post Office to
provide that service.*
