CCTV Appeal after a Motorbike was stolen in
Birkdale
MERSEYSIDE
Police Detectives, in Sefton, have realised CCTV of a man they want to trace in
connection with a burglary in Birkdale where a motorbike was stolen. Up to 4
offenders, including 1 woman, are believed to have been involved in the break in
at the house in Liverpool Road, on Friday, 5 August 2016. After knocking at the
front door and getting no reply the three male offenders tried to force their
way inside the garage, 1st through the main garage door and then the side door.
After failing to get in, the group targeted a UPVC kitchen door at the back of
the house and after forcing entry using garden tools, stole the key to the
garage when the victim's KTM motorbike was stored. Again, the offenders used the
victim's own tools to damage locks on the motorbike and 2 mountain bikes which
were also being stored in the garage. Detectives believe the offenders then
wheeled all 3 bikes off the driveway and escaped. The victims returned to their
house to find considerable damage had been caused to their property and their
motorbike and mountain bikes missing. Detective Sergeant Jason Ennis from Marsh
Lane CID said:- "This burglary was carried out by up to four offenders who
were determined to get inside that property and steal the motorbike they
believed was inside. By forcing their way in using tools they helped themselves
to they have caused a huge amount of damage to the couple's home which has added
to the distress they were already suffering from being burgled. This incident
happened while the couple were out for a walk on Friday afternoon so I am keen
to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious. A female offender
tried the doorbell and when she didn't get an answer, the three male offenders
scaled the side gate and broke in through the back door. This would have been a
noisy and taken some time so potentially alerted neighbours or passers by. We
are also keen to hear from anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV still taken
from the victim's home CCTV system. If anyone knows who he is, please contact us
on:- 0151 777 3841 or Crimestoppers on:- 0800 555 111." |
