West Lancashire Yacht Club
RYA's "Push the Boat Out"
THE West Lancashire Yacht Club (WLYC)
held a very special event on Saturday, 20 May 2017, called:- "RYA's Push
the Boat Out initiative #PTBO" This event was part of a national open day
campaign by the Royal Yacht Association (RYA) members which was aimed at
promoting sailing. It was a fantastic opportunity for the residents of Southport
and further afield to come down and try sailing and model RC sailing for free.
Despite the strange weather, the wind was just right to allow even the youngest
interested sailor to take to the waters, under the watchful eye of experienced
club members. They also demonstrated capsize and rescue procedures on the Marine
Lake."
Mike Gribble, from WLYC said after the event:- "A big thank you to all
club members that came down and helped out on Saturday at the PTBO open event.
You all had a vital and important role in getting over 100 people on the water
for a sail. I would also like to say well done all who tried sailing. We hope to
see you on the waters again. Plus, we must not forget to say thank you to the
M&M committee."
