MERSEYSIDE Police have released CCTV footage of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the fatal road traffic collision in Bootle at around 12.15pm on Sunday 14 March 2004 in Southport Road at the roundabout junction with Aintree Road. A black Ford Mondeo was in collision with 57 year old William Hudson and the car failed to stop at the scene.
Mr Hudson, who was not married, was knocked off his pedal cycle by the Ford Mondeo and he was taken to hospital in a critical condition. Sadly he died in hospital on Sunday evening.
The Mondeo drove away from the scene into Aintree Road, where the driver abandoned the vehicle near to Partington Avenue and left on foot.
Police have since retrieved CCTV footage of what is believed to be the car involved in the collision when it stopped at a petrol station on Priory Road in Walton at about 6pm the Friday before. The car had been bought that day and had not been registered to its new owner.
Police would like to speak to the person pictured alongside the car, registration number N976 MCW as they believe he may have some information about who was driving the car at the time of the incident.
Merseyside Police are asking the driver to come forward and are also appealing for anyone who saw the incident to contact them on 0151 777 5730 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
