'Chadafusion'
Restaurant is a "hidden gem" in Southport!
Photographs and report by
Patrick Trollope.
WHERE and what is
Chadafusion? Simply put, it is in the heart of Southport Town Centre
and it nestles between a high class Jeweller and Costa on Lord
Street, in what was Ellis and Son's Estate Agents. After the Estate
Agents moved out, the building became available and Paul and Suchada
Kelly took it over and have turned it into a hidden gem, a Gallery
and Restaurant combined. The restaurant is quite unique in more ways
than one for Southport. Both Paul and Suchada have had a long
connection with high class dining and Paul once ran two major Manor
House restaurants in France. He picked Southport for his latest
venture, due to its Victorian architecture and its people. When he
spotted the building on the market, he had to have it. He recreated
the long entrance hall into the main room at the back of Costa and
restored the ceiling fittings to what they had been like in its
glory days, but now with some interesting modern lighting effects
added. Co-owner Paul's love of art is very apparent, with its walls
used as a gallery area for local established and aspiring artists to
display their works. The venue is spacious and designed ideally for
private parties, with an area at the back still to be developed.
They also want to create an opportunities to help charities
including:- The Southport Offshore Rescue Trust, Alder Hey
Children's Charity, Sefton Homeless plus on a wider scale,
eventually to give to Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital and
the RNLI. So in 2015, keep an eye open for event notices on both
Twitter and also their
website. Ultimately this is a
restaurant, so what is it that they provide on the food side? Due to
its location they offer a range of light refreshments to full 3
course dinners, along with tea and scones during the day time! But
by night that is when it becomes a full restaurant and it is billed
as "a Thai restaurant with a French twist!" So what is
the Twist? Suchada is the chef and has years of experience working
in Europe, so she had developed interesting blends of French cuisine
and Thai foods, using imported Thai spices, herbs and fresh Asian
fruits and vegetables; these are prepared and cooked by her. Both
Suchada and Paul believe, that it improves the flavours of certain
dishes which with the presentation style of French cuisine lead to a
winning combination. After owning and running 2 extremely
prestigious dining venues in France, both of them are extremely
focused on attention to detail when it comes to their food.
"For our recipes and ingredients, we have to get highest quality we
can get. There is no middle ground... We are keeping our prices
down, but that does not mean we don't get the best. Food is, like
the art on the walls, a stimulation of the mind. To do that you must
have the best taste and texture to all your food. We aspire to
always deliver the best service and also food. Many restaurants say
this, but few ever deliver, but we feel quality should not be
reflected in the price being higher than normal. We hope we can
always deliver nothing but the best, each and every time."
Paul told our Editor Patrick Trollope. "We only source the
best local meats and produce to add quality to the dishes, similar
to that found in the very top restaurants of Bangkok!" added
Suchada, whose very words are now on the website... with the art
works adorning the walls, good seating and lighting, add good food,
WiFi and fantastic service, this is a place to watch. It is no
wonder why in a very short time it has scored highly on
Trip
Advisor and also gaining with its first
viewing a extremely high score form the Food Standards Agency,
gaining it 5
Stars on the Door. For more
information see their
website and also keep an eye on
